How To Create the Life You Want In One Year
a way i would look forward for creating a life most people want, within one year
Hello everyone!
It's been a solid month into the new year, and I've been diving into all things makeover-related, exploring how life changes and such. Here's a post summarizing various things that might boost your life. I’ll talk about a lot of different aspects that can help you make your life the life you want.
What exactly do you want from your life? (Assess your situation)
Figuring out what you want from life might seem like a simple question, but it's not that straightforward. It's worth the effort because knowing exactly what you want is crucial. The alternative is letting someone else decide it for you, and that's not the best route to take. Answers differ based on your emotional, spiritual, and physical state in life. Finding the light of what you truly want can be challenging, causing frustration, relapses, and delayed progress. Life's a rollercoaster, and sometimes the path isn't all sunshine and rainbows.
The confusion often arises from not having a clear picture of your true desires. People often paint a picture of having everything figured out, but let's face it – reality hits differently. Embracing this truth can be liberating, giving you the clarity to understand your genuine desires.
Why you fail every year
The life you picture a year from now or at a specific time isn't always what you aimed for 10 months ago, or even 4 years back. Let's be honest, priorities are like shape-shifters; they change with time, and planning accordingly is just plain smart.
Humans often try to juggle everything simultaneously, and that's a recipe for chaos. In one of Nathaniel Drew's Lifestyle videos, he dishes out some wisdom, saying, "Lifestyle for me is about distinguishing what matters to you and what does not as specifically as possible." In simpler terms, focus on the stuff that genuinely matters; having it all shouldn't be the main goal. Keep it real, keep it focused.
How to make it the best year(Developing Habits)
• Step 0: Doing it the opposite way
We often get fixated on the goals rather than the system, and here's the catch – it's not the best approach. Why? Because we tie our success directly to these goals. The problem kicks in when, despite putting in the effort, we fall short of reaching those goals, and bam, demotivation hits like a ton of bricks.
Switching gears to an identity-based habit makes a world of difference. It's not about ditching goals; it's about achieving them differently. An identity-based approach lasts longer because it's about becoming the person who achieves those goals, not just checking items off a list. Smart moves for the long game.
• Step 1: Choose little to focus
Choose 2 to 3 specific things you want to kickstart and jot them down. This sets a clear focus area and outlines how you plan to achieve it. While it might be tempting to cram your list with a bunch of aspirations, starting small is key. Once you've nailed consistency in your chosen area, then you can think about adding more.
• Step 2: What to choose and how to proceed
If you find it tricky to pick, shift your perspective to "who you want to be." Choose someone you admire or want to emulate because they've excelled in that area. Once you've pinpointed the area, outline the characteristics of the person who thrives in that field. It's like crafting your roadmap to success based on the traits of those who've already aced it.
• Step 3: The habits of your ideal self
Once you've got your focus areas squared away, the next move is building habits around those goals. Embracing habits might feel like a lot at first, but here's the kicker – you start noticing improvements throughout your day. Discipline becomes the glue holding it all together, propelling you forward. It's like setting up a domino effect of success.
• Step 4: How habits lead to achievement
In the book "Atomic Habits," James Clear delves into a topic discussing how habits pave the way for achievements. He outlines a 4-step process, shedding light on the intricate link between habits and reaching your goals.
Cue:
The cue is the trigger or signal that initiates the habit loop. It can be an external event, an internal feeling, a specific time of day, a location, or any other stimulus that prompts you to start a particular behaviour.
Craving:
Craving is the desire or motivation that follows the cue. It's the anticipation of the reward that the habit loop promises. Cravings are the emotional or psychological responses to the cue, driving the behaviour.
Response:
The response is the actual behaviour or action you take in response to the cue and craving. It's the habit itself. This step is where you perform the routine or the set of actions that constitute the habit.
Reward:
The reward is the positive outcome or benefit that reinforces the habit loop. It satisfies the craving and reinforces the association between the cue and the behaviour. Rewards are essential for reinforcing habits and making them more likely to be repeated in the future.
How to dominate this year(Upgrading your Skills)
Upgrading your skills and becoming a skilful person is like giving your personal and professional life a turbo boost. Here's why it's crucial and how to go about it:
1. Adaptability in a Dynamic World: It's important to remain relevant in an ever-changing world. By improving your abilities, you may be more adaptive in a variety of settings and better able to handle changes and obstacles.
2. Career Advancement: Companies value driven individuals. Improving your abilities provides growth opportunities and makes you a valuable employee in your present position. It's the quick route to moving up the corporate ladder.
3. More Employment Possibilities: Possessing a diverse skill set improves your employment chances. Being a desirable candidate is more than simply doing your work well; it also involves being adaptable enough to take on new tasks and responsibilities.
4. Increased Confidence: Acquiring new abilities makes you feel more confident. You naturally feel more confident as you gain skills—both personally and professionally.
5. Future-Proofing: The employment market is akin to a rollercoaster, with unpredictable swings. Developing your skill set is a calculated step that will help you guard against future changes in the economy.
How to Upgrade Your Skills:
1. Establish Your Objectives: Decide on your destination. Determine which skills fit your hobbies or job aspirations.
2. Continuous Learning: Adopt a philosophy that emphasizes lifelong learning. Participate in seminars, study books, watch industry trends on the internet, and take online courses.
3. Request input: Don't be afraid to ask for input. It's a useful instrument for development. You may better understand your areas of strength and progress with the use of constructive criticism.
4. Networking: Assist experts in your industry. Through networking, you may get advice, find a mentor, and possibly even improve your talents.
5. Practice Frequently: Just like muscles, skills get stronger with use. Practice often to help you remember what you've learned.
